HOPE FRIDAYS on Twitter

Friday, July 31st, 2009

Well, why not? What if we got people to think of the end of the week as a good time to mail something positive?

It would mean that early in the NEXT week someone is gong to receive an unexpected card or letter of support. With times like they are, you KNOW that’s going to give them a boost — maybe even a little more HOPE.

So today, PLEASE take 1 minute, send 1 card, to 1 person. That’s all it takes to help invigorate the spirit of possibility.

If that’s not possible for you, then just write the word HOPE on the back of ANYTHING you mail. Fast, free, easy, and it puts HOPE back out there.

Friends Make HOPE Happen

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

Many of you know this project has been a HUGE endeavor — eating up every last minute after work. But some folks I work with in my day job also know I’m working on some iPhone games about cars.

Look at what they made for me and mailed to me!

My friends made a card to support me in a project I'm working on!

It blew me away. The time they took, the humor, the messages inside, all of it — it all adds up to finding the drive to keep trying.
And they stamped HOPE on the back....awesome!

If you know someone who is STRIVING for something — ANYTHING — send them a card that says you believe in them. It matters. It works. It’s wonderful.

HOPE Just For YOU!

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

OK, it was a very bad day and maybe this isn’t the BEST way to handle things. But I had to do something to lift my own spirits. So, I sent myself a card.

A note from ME for ME!

A note from ME for ME!

Then I wrote myself a note….

I needed a lift, so I mailed myself one!

We’ll see if it works when it arrives this coming week!

Yes, I remembered to write HOPE on the back!

Just read a cool article about a little girl who’s art for greeting cards raised enough money to build an orphanage in Haiti. If she can do that with greeting cards, think of what we can do together! Check out the story:

What a wonderful inspiration.

Be Spontaneous

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

Just spoke with Mary Jones on air with Talk of Connecticut. She’s trying to get people to do something spontaneous this month.

I love that. Shake up your day a little. Knock on a neighbor’s door to say hi. Take a different route to work. Try that weird food. Dance in the bathroom. Whatever. But liberate yourself for a moment to rediscover the wonder of the world around you.

I’m going to. Thanks Mary! www.TalkOfConnecticut.com.

We’re on the air in Connecticut! Listen in July 18, ET.

Kids Spread HOPE One Card At A Time

Friday, July 17th, 2009

The children at Champions Day Camp in Texas are spreading Hope as part of their fun-filled days at summer camp, one card at a time.

It all began when Faye Sager heard our movement! She gave us a call, and the support and participation of the National Greeting Card Association, we sent her a piloe of FREE Hope cards.

The children then wrote notes and mail themed to local police, firefighters and teachers as a way to thank those public servants for all they do.

Children join HOPE IS IN THE CARDS effort, send upbeat messages to fire fighters, police and teachers.

Isn’t this just the coolest? Our country is built on this kind of optimism. It’s neat to see the kids bring it back.

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

When I Grow Up I Will…..is a super cool little company that makes t-shirts that begin with the phrase . “I will…..” and ends with some sort of learning, uplifting, educational or just plain FUN statement.

When the founder heard about Hope Is In The Cards, she was excited and wanted to share our message too.

So now, while her supplies last of course, she’s including a HOPE card in every shipment! Imagine the delight of those customers — they get their cool t-shirt, and they get a cool card they can share with someone else.

WhenIGrowUpIWill.com partnered with Hope Is In The Cards and send free HOPE cards with their on-line orders.

Make A Mom’s Day

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Yesterday I spent 1/2 my day with the 8-year old daughters of two single Moms. Today, I’m going to send those Moms a note that tells them how much I admire all they do.

They work full time, constantly negotiating with employers so they can pickup and drop-off their children at friends’ houses and activities. They both take work home at night to make up for the lost in-office time.

They spend their weekends doing as much as they can with their children. And I have to say, it’s paid off. The girls are smart, engaged, charming, active and a joy to be around.

So, out go a couple of cards to say THANKS for the day, but mostly, THANKS for doing such a difficult job alone.

If you know single Mom, let her know she’s got a friend. Send her a card right now.

4 Letters To Make Your Week!

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

HOPE

Write that one, tiny, simple word on the back of everything you put in the mail this week.

I promise, you’ll feel better when you do it. It costs you nothing. And whoever gets that card or letter (or even a bill payment)…they’ll see the word HOPE.

If everyone in the USA did this, we’d have 300 million positive messages in our country, right now. I like that idea.

I'm asking you -- just write HOPE on the back of anything you mail!
